About the role
- Senior Design & Planning Technician responsible for highway facility improvements and supervising subordinate staff. Collaborates with various bureau sections to ensure compliance with design standards and project timelines.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing detailed tasks associated with designing and preparing plans and specifications for highway facility improvements.
- Ensures that plans prepared are accurate, complete, and in compliance with design standards and specifications or acceptable variations and represent the most cost-efficient design.
- Supervises, trains, and motivates subordinate personnel on a seasonal basis.
- Coordinates the activities with other sections within the bureau and other bureaus within the district to ensure that studies and plans are completed in time to meet prescribed time schedules.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
- Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR Seven years of engineering experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- District-wide travel.
- Successful completion of a background screening.
