About the role
- Underwriting Associate providing advanced technical support for complex accounts at Intact Insurance. Collaborating with underwriters and producers to evaluate risks and manage policies.
Responsibilities
- Provides advanced, complex technical services and support in partnership with assigned underwriter(s) and designated producers for complex accounts
- Assists underwriter in developing and servicing a book of business and evaluates risks
- Completes 85-90% of the front-end information gathering and analytics for new and renewal business policies
- Responsible for adjusting policy pricing and documenting eligible renewals
- Develops superior working relationships with producers
- Researches and resolves complex errors and questions regarding processes
- Takes initiative for continual learning and insurance knowledge
- Assists in the development of new processes, procedures, and/or systems
- Trains and acts as a resource and mentor for others
- Ability to travel when required
Requirements
- Advanced computer literacy with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and internet navigation
- Proven analytical skills and mathematical aptitude (arithmetic, algebra, basic accounting principles)
- Exceptional time and desk management skills with tremendous attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of property and casualty lines as well as other insurance principles
- Strong business acumen and critical thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain relationships
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years underwriting support or related insurance experience required
