About the role

  • Software Developer at Fraunhofer working on ULBC Software Repository and 3GPP standardization. Involves C and Python software development alongside industry partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Software development and client support: You are responsible for the ULBC software repository and will collaborate closely with industry partners and research collaborators to develop a joint candidate for 3GPP standardization.
  • Programming languages: You will use your knowledge of C and Python to develop software solutions, perform ML deployments, and integrate and test system modules for voice services.
  • Use of innovative coding techniques: You will work on integrating coding algorithms for speech signals at 1–3 kbps to enable telephony over GEO/LEO satellites.
  • Standardization objectives: You will contribute to project activities aimed at 3GPP standardization to maximize the technology’s potential and improve its performance.

Requirements

  • A completed academic university degree, ideally with a focus in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience developing software applications in C and Python.
  • Practical experience with GitLab, Continuous Integration (CI), and Docker, and a confident command of Linux environments.
  • Strong communication skills in German and English.
  • Ideally, experience in audio and signal processing.
  • Knowledge of ML frameworks such as ONNX Runtime and PyTorch is desirable.
