About the role

  • Engineer developing methods and chiplet components for complex hardware at Fraunhofer Institute. Focus on tool-flows for heterogeneous integration in advanced electronics with a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

  • You design and develop methods and chiplet components for the complex hardware of tomorrow
  • You incorporate different perspectives from application to implementation
  • You contribute innovative ideas that improve the design of heterogeneous electronic systems in many respects
  • Development and implementation of tool flows for the heterogeneous integration of components in advanced packages
  • Support of System/Technology Co-Optimization (STCO) through tools across the entire design process
  • Interface and integrate design tools from leading vendors to enable an end-to-end design flow
  • Implementation of co-design and co-verification processes for mixed-signal designs and design of chiplet RDL (Redistribution Layer) in close cooperation with development engineers

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or a comparable field
  • Practical experience in chip design and ideally experience in package design
  • Team-player personality with an independent working style and goal-oriented communication
  • Confident use of chip design and/or test tools
  • Solid knowledge of heterogeneous integration and the development of tool flows
  • Experience with chip(let) and package design (ideally knowledge of STCO – System/Technology Co-Optimization)
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Siemens EDA, Cadence, Synopsys, HFSS and CST
  • Experience in co-design and co-verification methodology for 2.5D and 3D integration technologies
  • Knowledge of parasitic extraction and its application in early package exploration flows
  • Familiarity with (quasi)standardized file formats and tool APIs
  • Ability to integrate and verify processes as well as analyze simulations
  • Experience conducting iterative process optimizations to improve tool performance

Benefits

  • Respect and appreciation: experience a respectful team culture where every contribution is valued.
  • Work–life balance: we take your needs seriously and offer flexible hours and hybrid working to help you balance work and private life.
  • Your goals and interests: targeted training and development of your professional and personal strengths through seminars, coaching and language courses.
  • Space for interaction: diverse sports offerings, events and inviting communal areas promote exchange and collaboration among our employees — both on-site and remotely.
  • Possibility to pursue a PhD depending on suitability.
