Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and maintain the AWS infrastructure to support the organisation's applications and services.
Implement and manage security measures to protect the AWS environment.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Create and maintain documentation related to AWS infrastructure architecture, processes, and procedures.
Participate in capacity planning and scalability efforts to meet business demands.
Collaborate with development teams to optimise application performance on the AWS platform.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in AWS infrastructure and cloud technologies.
Develop and maintain backend systems and APIs to support our applications.
Write and review code, ensuring high standards in coding and programming practices.
Integrate infrastructure solutions with backend services for seamless operations.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years in a DevOps or AWS Infrastructure Engineer role, with a focus on building scalable and highly available systems.
Deep expertise in Docker and mandatory, proven experience with Kubernetes (especially AWS EKS) for dynamic resource allocation, auto-scaling, and managing short-lived, isolated environments.
Expert-level proficiency in Terraform for defining and managing all cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes clusters, networking, and security.
Strong, hands-on knowledge of core AWS services such as EC2, VPC, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch for building, monitoring, and securing the orchestration platform.
Advanced proficiency in Python for developing custom automation, API integrations, and the core orchestration logic, supplemented by strong Bash scripting skills.
Ability to design and implement robust, multi-tenant architectures, ensuring secure isolation for developer environments.
Solid grasp of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S) and experience securely exposing services using tools like Application Load Balancers or Kubernetes ingress controllers.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues in a distributed infrastructure.
Strong communication and documentation skills to work effectively with developers and other stakeholders.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
Strong in Ubuntu or other Linux technologies.
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and managing Kubernetes applications with Helm.
Deep understanding of security best practices, particularly for hardening multi-tenant cloud environments.
Direct experience with lightweight virtualisation technologies like Firecracker for optimising performance and startup times.
Knowledge of WebAssembly (Wasm).
Knowledge of other cloud platforms, such as Azure or Google Cloud.
