About the role

  • IT Security Specialist responsible for day-to-day support of Hudbay’s IT security program and monitoring security risks. Collaborating on various projects to ensure security best practices are followed across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Protect Hudbay and our employees from attacks via our technology systems.
  • Provides second- and third-level support and analysis during and after a security incident.
  • Assists IT staff in the resolution of reported security incidents.
  • Review and assess security and infrastructure logs for indicators of compromise (IOCs) or other anomalous behavior within networks, applications or user profiles.
  • Assist in the completion of information security operations documentation.
  • Works with information security leadership to develop strategies and plans to enforce security requirements and address identified risks.
  • Participate in application and infrastructure projects to provide security planning advice.
  • Draft security procedures and standards to be reviewed and approved by management.
  • Validate IT infrastructure and other reference architectures for security best practices and recommend changes to enhance security and reduce risk where applicable.
  • Coordinate operational components of incident management, including detection, response and reporting.
  • Maintain a knowledge base comprising a technical reference library, security advisories and alerts, information on security trends and practices, and laws and regulations.
  • Assist the disaster recovery planning team in the selection of recovery strategies and the development, testing and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintain the currently high levels of IT user satisfaction from Hudbay employees and implement plans to address identified areas of opportunity for user satisfaction improvement.
  • Assists in the development of enterprise architecture (Security / Business) and policies, principles and standards.
  • Assists management on business architecture, modeling, and requirements definition projects.
  • Interface with analysts, process designers, function managers, and subject matter experts to understand and evaluate business needs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
  • IT security related certifications such as Security+, GSEC, SSCP
  • 2-4 years of experience in the IT field operating in a Technical Support capacity.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • A+ certification, Microsoft MCSE and other certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Business-related education would be a plus. (I.e. Accounting, Marketing, etc.)
  • Extensive experience and knowledge installing, administering, supporting and troubleshooting Windows 10, Apple OSX, Google GSuite and Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Basic experience administering, supporting and troubleshooting Active Directory, Windows Server 2016, and cloud based applications.
  • Understanding and experience of LAN/WAN connectivity and IP Networking, firewalls, routers and switches.
  • Exposure and hands-on experience with networking, system security and telecommunication components configuration and diagnostic tools.
  • Extensive experience using service desk systems specifically ServiceNow.
  • Experience in security event analysis and triage.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge installing, administering, supporting and troubleshooting Network security practices (Firewall rules, EDR, NAC, IPS/IDS, Load Balancer, etc.), preferably on the following technologies: Watchguard, Cisco, Citrix, SEP, Forescout
  • SIEM experience including management, rules creation, use case deployment, reporting, correlation, and investigation.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessments and remediation
  • Experience with patch management systems
  • Experience with cloud IaaS and related security (ie AWS).
