About the role
- Senior Accountant evaluating accounting processes and driving improvements for HUB International's Specialty Program Group. Collaborating with senior leadership during an exciting period of expansion and integration.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and reconcile trial balances during system integrations and migrations
- Perform month-end reconciliations for balance sheet accounts (Cash, AR, AP, and other assets/liabilities)
- Monitor and resolve accounting process issues, maintaining detailed issue logs and ensuring timely resolution
- Lead meetings and communicate effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Identify process improvement opportunities and help develop standard operating procedures
- Prepare manual journal entries and open system entries as needed
- Partner with Operations, IT, Treasury, and other departments to resolve accounting matters
- Support special projects and optimization initiatives across the accounting function
- Onboard team members and stakeholders on accounting processes and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of corporate accounting experience with strong reconciliation skills
- Solid understanding of assets and liabilities on the balance sheet
- Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and general IF logic)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to present to and collaborate with senior leadership
- Investigative mindset and passion for process improvement
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment
