About the role

  • Electrical Engineer focusing on engineering design and compliance for innovative solutions in Karachi, hybrid work. Responsibilities include project coordination, documentation, and client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Establish design criteria, perform design calculations, develop single line diagrams, control schematics, plans and specifications.
  • Co-ordinate design efforts remotely.
  • Assist in the development of capital cost estimates and effort-hour estimates.
  • Prepare design bases, work tenders, best value options analyses, and provide input to project schedules.
  • Review manufacturer documentation to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Provide engineering support during construction to ensure technical compliance, including reviewing equipment submittals and shop drawings and responding to contractor RFIs (request for information).
  • Complete pre-start health and safety reviews.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and datasheets.
  • Work closely with engineers and other designers for coordination.
  • Provide client-focused communication, both written and verbal to foster strong working relationships.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients, customers and co-workers.
  • Provide leadership to assigned project teams and mentor or guide junior engineers as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering.
  • 4-8 years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing, process or utility environments.
  • Proficient in electrical design using AutoCAD.
  • Experience with industrial PLC programming, Allen-Bradley (RSLogix 500 / Studio 5000) preferred; Metasys (Johnson Controls) experience is an asset.
  • Experience in power distribution systems, from medium-voltage to low-voltage equipment, with an emphasis on power distribution from Motor Control Centers (MCCs) to field equipment.
  • Electrical engineering and design experience in equipment and process control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical maintenance principles, electrical safety guidelines and power distribution standards.
  • Experience in machinery safeguarding and Safety Instrumented Level (SIL) assessments for process systems.
  • Ability to perform Short-Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) and coordination studies is an asset.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety codes and standards, including CSA, IEC, National Electrical Code (NEC), and EEA Standards.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classification and related standards, including CEC, OESC, ATEX, IEC, and NFPA.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
