About the role
- Senior Data Engineer driving impactful data solutions for the climate logistics startup HIVED's core data platform. Collaborating with cross-functional squads to enhance analytics and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the technical roadmap for our core data platform,
- Design and implement tooling that empowers Analytics Engineers and Data Scientists to build their own pipelines and models safely and autonomously,
- Drive business impact within your squad through sophisticated ways of operationalising data in our products,
- Lead through influence and collaborate with fellow Data team members to grow and improve our analytics and machine learning & AI platform and set technical standards across the organisation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a similar data engineering, analytics engineering or backend engineering role.
- Proven track record of building and scaling data systems in production environments.
- Highly proficient in Python and able to write maintainable, testable, and efficient code.
- SQL expert who understands how to optimize complex queries and design resilient data models.
- Experience or a deep interest in managing "Data Infrastructure as Code."
- Familiarity with tools like Dagster, self-host on GCP via Kubernetes is a plus.
- Comfortable within the Google Cloud (GCP) ecosystem and have experience with data warehouses like BigQuery and cloud storage patterns.
- Advocate for CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
