About the role

  • Technical Communications & Research Intern at HII's DIICE assisting Air Force digital transformation projects. Involves technical writing, project coordination, and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with project teams to gather technical insights, background information and synthesize complex Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), digital engineering, and DoW Acquisition Transformation concepts into concise, user-friendly communication.
  • Develop 3-5 page papers or briefing summaries of current DIICE projects, detailing:
  • Technical details and methodologies
  • The purpose and problem being addressed
  • The impact and relevance to AFMC organizations and missions, written in plain, accessible language
  • Conduct digital ecosystem mapping and visualization by creating a visual process map or flowchart
  • Assist in mapping out next DIICE initiative/project, to include:
  • Identify key stakeholders in project and develop matrix to map interests and influence
  • Assist in defining timeline for project
  • Assist in defining deliverables
  • Balance multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Present findings verbally to DIICE staff and stakeholders when needed.
  • Assist with other communications, documentation, or research tasks in support of DIICE’s Education Excellence, Research and Tech Transfer, Consulting, and Best Practices lines of effort.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in university and actively working on degree
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Foundational understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering/Model-Based Systems Concepts (MBSE/MBSC)
  • Ability to research, analyze, and accurately represent technical information.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, research, and leadership teams.
  • Willingness to learn and ask clarifying questions to understand complex topics.
