About the role

Responsibilities

  • Learn the basics of day-to-day operations for a website with hundreds of thousands of visits per day
  • Contribute to the daily news cycle, getting valuable real-world clips
  • Assist with various curation and content-related tasks in all sections of the site
  • Responsibilities tailored to the candidates’ skillsets
  • Could include story research, article packaging, social media responsibilities, getting photos in the field, attending press conferences

Requirements

  • Must be a current student in UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism
  • Interns will work 30 hours a week for 8.5 weeks, June-August 2026.
  • Passion for journalism and the internet, including keeping a pulse on what’s trending
  • Knowledge of the Bay Area
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity with online publications
  • Experience at a school newspaper/magazine or similar publication
  • Enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn
  • Familiarity with social media, particularly Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit
