About the role

  • Report and write multiple stories a week about the Bay Area food scene, including major news in the restaurant industry and regional trends
  • Write in-depth features and insightful profiles about the Bay Area food scene, the structures that make it work, and the people in and around it
  • Work collaboratively with teams, including digital, photo, data and design

Requirements

  • At least three years’ experience at a daily newspaper, magazine or web publication or the equivalent as a reporter and/or editor
  • Demonstrated expertise in reporting and writing, with strong news judgment
  • Ability to respond quickly to breaking news, while also juggling multiple projects with different deadlines
  • Ability to write sophisticated, high-impact features based on original, long-term reporting and incisive analysis
  • Ability to collaborate with all newsroom teams and work in a fast-changing news environment
  • A passion for the food and restaurant beat
