About the role

  • Manufacturing Engineer III at Fillauer, focused on optimizing manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives in Chattanooga. Leading engineering initiatives in a dynamic and innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, fixtures, and tooling to support production goals and ensure repeatable, high-quality output.
  • Create and optimize CNC programs for new and existing parts to improve throughput, reduce scrap, and ensure precision.
  • Serve as a technical expert for machining operations, providing guidance on best practices for tooling, materials, feeds, and speeds.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues, ensuring timely resolution and process documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to support new product introductions (NPI).
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard work instructions, setup sheets, and process flow diagrams.
  • Identify opportunities for automation or process enhancements to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Support capital equipment projects, including justification, specification, and implementation.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and manufacturing staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering (or related engineering field)
  • Experience with CNC machining and process development is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with CNC programming software preferred (e.g., FeatureCAM, Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Experience with fixture and tooling design using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
