About the role

  • Credit Manager improving credit performance in Clean Cooking PAYG LPG business through asset recovery and ARPU strategies. Collaboration with field teams and strong travel requirements in Kenya for operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Review portfolio performance to identify drivers of low ARPU and design interventions that improve customer payment behaviour, product utilisation, and retention.
  • Work closely with sales and customer success teams to implement customer-level interventions addressing payment issues, product usage gaps, or operational constraints.
  • Monitor cohort performance and develop forward-looking insights to guide sales, marketing, and credit strategies.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of field recovery operations to reclaim LPG cylinders and equipment from churned or non-paying customers.
  • Develop efficient recovery playbooks that balance cost management, customer experience, and asset protection.
  • Work with field teams to track recovery KPIs and implement ongoing improvements.
  • Develop simple, scalable underwriting, collections, and repossession processes suited to the PAYG LPG business model.
  • Assist with fraud identification and investigation processes, working closely with field teams to review and resolve incidents.
  • Conduct regular field visits to review processes, address escalations, and guide recovery and credit staff.
  • Track and report on key credit indicators, recovery rates, and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Ensure adherence to company credit policies and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Prepare practical field reports that inform operational adjustments and business planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Credit Management, Operations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in credit risk, field operations, or asset recovery — experience in PAYG, microfinance, or asset leasing models is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience improving field-based credit performance.
  • Experience working in emerging markets, particularly in rural or peri-urban settings.
