About the role

  • Avocat plaidant en droit disciplinaire, pénal et civil au sein de l’OACIQ, protégeant le public dans le domaine de l’immobilier. Efficace gestion des enjeux juridiques et représentation devant les instances compétentes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage disciplinary and criminal cases as well as civil appeals through hearings and final court decisions, including superior courts, and draft appellate briefs;
  • Provide legal advice on disciplinary, criminal, or other matters as required by the Organization, in collaboration with the Legal Affairs Department;
  • Act as the Organization’s exclusive representative before disciplinary, administrative, and judicial bodies;
  • Serve, as needed, as a resource person on various committees or working groups of the Organization;
  • Provide training, notably to managers as well as to HR and legal teams.

Requirements

  • Law degree and member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec (Quebec Bar);
  • Knowledge of disciplinary law and experience as a litigation lawyer in this area (an asset);
  • Knowledge of criminal law and administrative law and experience as a litigation lawyer in these areas (an asset);
  • Familiarity with the Real Estate Brokerage Act and its regulations (an asset);
  • Familiarity with access to information and privacy legislation (an asset);
  • Excellent spoken and written French;
  • Good spoken and written English;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to work with various software applications.
