About the role

  • Materials Engineer developing new material technology and characterizing material behavior at GE Vernova. Collaborating with the Chemistry and Materials team in a hybrid work environment in Wilmington, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support towards the development and execution of BWR plant and fuel related materials deliverables within both GVH and GNF businesses
  • Provide technical leadership in the development and execution of BWR material property behavior test programs
  • Perform technical evaluations, analyses and verifications in the areas of BWR nuclear plant and fuel material applications
  • Perform work in compliance with NRC regulated policies and procedures
  • Interface with internal and external customers on technical issues
  • Support Company initiatives
  • Meet customer commitments and drive continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, Material Science, Nuclear, Mechanical, or similar
  • At least 5 years of experience in an engineering capacity
  • Experience in specific technology areas: BWR plant and fuel material processing, testing, and in-service performance behavior
  • Knowledge or experience with ASTM and ASME Section 3, Section 7, and Section 11
  • Experience with BWR and PWR technology (i.e. reactor structural materials, stainless steel, nickel alloys, and zirconium alloys)
  • Knowledge of reactor material licensing requirements
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
  • This role requires access to US export-controlled information.
