Lead Engineer overseeing mechanical component design for nuclear plant systems at GE Vernova. Collaborating globally to deliver engineering solutions in the energy sector within regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
contribute to a team responsible for highly engineered equipment design of GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) customers nuclear plant components
Mechanical Component Engineers create and develop design concepts, provide procurement support, and generate drawings, CAD models, specifications, and design basis documentation as required
operate in a matrixed engineering team to deliver high quality engineering deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines (ASME, NRC, CSA, and others)
work with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to advance the BWRX-300 plant design and contribute to delivery of BWRX-300 projects
Demonstrates ownership and accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks
Takes personal responsibility, understanding impacts and risks associated with design decisions
Considers customer needs and maintains open communication with interfacing engineers and project stakeholders
Performs component design related work as governed by ASME Section III and CSA codes and standards
Prepares CAD models, drawings, specifications, and detailed design basis documentation for nuclear component designs
Interfaces with other engineering teams, project managers, project engineers, procurement, suppliers, and other business functions and partners as needed
Understands component material selection & fabrication processes to create optimized component designs and address supplier non-conformances & emergent issues as needed
Performs independent verification of design work ensuring strict procedure adherence
Develops procedures and identifies opportunities to improve engineering productivity
Works with technical leader to establish effective work plans, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements, and work processes
Responsible for equipment requirement specifications, drawings, assistance in vendor evaluation and selection
Performs fundamental engineering calculations and modeling
Assessment of failure modes, causality, and risk in relation to assigned work scopes
Participates in and leads teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
1 Year Experience working with ASME Section III standards
5 Years of Mechanical Engineering Experience
Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (up to 10%)
PE for the US candidates or P. Eng for Canadian candidates
Demonstrated problem solving ability and ability to perform complex engineering analyses resulting in thorough and complete documentation
BWR reactor vessel/internals design experience
Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, vibration analysis, heat transfer, Finite Element Analysis, statistics, CAD modeling and drafting practices (including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD design.
Strong communication skills and capable of clearly articulating specific technical topics or assignments
