About the role

  • Research Assistant role at WIAS Berlin focused on developing simulations for semiconductor lasers. Requires advanced studies in applied mathematics or theoretical physics and offers opportunities for independent research.

Responsibilities

  • Development of a multi-physics simulation environment for laterally injected semiconductor lasers based on the Julia toolbox WIAS-PDELib
  • Execution of numerical simulations for various device designs and configurations
  • Communication of results with project partners
  • Preparation and presentation of research findings in scientific journals and through conference presentations

Requirements

  • Highly motivated doctoral candidate with an excellent university degree (Master’s, Diplom, or equivalent) in applied mathematics, theoretical physics, or related fields, with basic knowledge in at least one of the topics relevant to the project
  • Knowledge of semiconductor physics and laser theory is an advantage
  • Good command of English and/or German
  • Willingness to collaborate with experimental project partners
