About the role

  • Research Assistant developing multi-physics simulations for semiconductor lasers at Weierstrass Institute. Collaborating with peers on innovative research and presentation of findings in conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Development of a multi-physics simulation environment for laterally injected semiconductor lasers based on the Julia toolbox WIAS-PDELib
  • Execution of numerical simulations for various device designs and configurations; communication of results with project partners
  • Preparation and publication of research results in scientific journals and presentation of findings at conferences

Requirements

  • Highly motivated doctoral candidate (PhD student) with an excellent university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in applied mathematics, theoretical physics, or related fields, and basic knowledge in at least one of the topics relevant to the project
  • Good command of English and/or German
  • Willingness to collaborate with experimental project partners
