About the role
- Linux and Storage Administrator at Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems responsible for managing Linux systems and integrations. Focus on automation, security, and maintaining infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- You will, according to defined guidelines, take responsibility for the installation, administration and securing of our Linux systems — with a particular focus on Ubuntu Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux — and ensure stable, secure operation.
- You will implement and maintain scripts based on predefined concepts to efficiently automate tasks in the server environment.
- You will reliably integrate Linux systems into our Windows Active Directory environment, ensuring smooth cooperation across heterogeneous infrastructures.
- You will ensure the provisioning and maintenance of containers for our software developers.
- You will support the evaluation of container solutions in coordination with monitoring, microservices and the middleware layer.
Requirements
- You have successfully completed vocational training in IT (Fachinformatik) or hold a comparable qualification.
- You have solid, practical experience with Linux operating systems and storage technologies.
- You are proficient in Fibre Channel, iSCSI, zoning and fabrics.
- You bring experience with enterprise HA storage as well as the SMB, CIFS and NFS protocols.
- A plus, not mandatory: experience with storage integrations in mixed environments.
- You are strong in communication, service-oriented, a team player and enjoy your work.
- Very good German and good English skills complete your profile.
