About the role

  • Technologist at FortisBC ensuring compliance with BCUC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards. Focus on integrating business technology and providing technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for integrating business requirements into technology and ensuring smooth function of business operations as it pertains to the BCUC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards.
  • Analyze, design, configure, implement and maintain information systems, data centres, virtual infrastructures, networking components, and security.
  • Provides first-level technical support, system administration and system development.
  • Performs system maintenance; troubleshoots system failures, including communication equipment.
  • Develops manuals and system related procedures; administers basic system security on the OT/IT system.
  • Identifies user requirements/problems and monitors the overall integrity of FortisBC’s OT/IT environment and PACS.
  • Completes compliance related documentation for routine and non-routine compliance related tasks or change requests.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized diploma or greater program focusing on computing and/or networking principles.
  • Basic knowledge in programming/scripting and/or database query languages.
  • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Solid analytical and organizational skills, including ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with focus on ensuring the delivery of high quality accurate and reliable data in a high-pressure environment.
  • Solid time management skills with the ability to multi-task deadline-driven tasks.
  • Solid ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Solid oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Basic conceptual knowledge of one or more enterprise security concepts such as: Security & Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Engineering, Communication & Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment & Testing, Security Operations, Software Development Security, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.
