About the role
- Legal Counsel in a fintech startup handling contracts and data privacy issues. Collaborating with teams to implement AI solutions and improve legal operations.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, SaaS agreements and contracts with service providers.
- Manage and evolve the data privacy program and provide legal guidance on data and privacy matters.
- Provide clear, practical legal advice on day-to-day operational issues, balancing business priorities with risk management.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess legal risks and develop strategies that support growth and innovation.
- Contribute to the development of contract templates, playbooks and best practices.
- Lead and implement AI solutions within the legal and compliance team to improve efficiency and help other teams responsibly deploy AI.
- Participate in drafting and implementing scalable governance processes.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of experience in a legal role, preferably at a fintech, financial services or technology company.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to propose business-focused solutions.
- Proven experience collaborating cross-functionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in privacy and contract negotiation, while remaining involved in operations and execution.
- Bilingualism (professional proficiency in French and English, written and spoken) is required due to frequent interaction with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
- Enthusiasm for using AI, automation and technology to modernize legal work.
