Responsibilities
- Install, operates, and maintains environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment; analyzes data for compliance with regulatory requirements
- Evaluate and assesses environmental risk and develops programs for risk reduction
- Collaborate in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations
- Review and/or prepares and maintains detailed records and files of environmental data and communications
- Evaluate and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
- Maintain basic working knowledge of national, regional and local environmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulations
- Maintain knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures
- May provide leadership to less experienced Engineers and Technicians
- May serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized environmental projects
- Lead or participate in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management System
- Coordinate the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements
- Track and reports the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or Business Management or other Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years environmental or related experience, OR Master’s degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience
- Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred
- Working knowledge of Clean Air Act (CAA) requirements and Arizona air quality regulations
- Experience with Arizona Air Permits (Class II and/or Title V exposure)
- Familiarity with ADEQ permitting processes
- Knowledge of fugitive dust control plans, opacity limits, and visible emissions requirements
- Experience with ambient air monitoring and/or source monitoring
- Familiarity with opacity monitoring, Method 9 observations, and visible emissions tracking
- Understanding of stack testing coordination, contractor oversight, and results review
- Ability to evaluate meteorological data (wind speed/direction) as it relates to dust and emissions
