Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and prepare adjusting journal entries to ensure compliance with GAAP and tax regulations
- Analyze journal entries, accruals, and adjustments before generating financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare internal and external financial statements, gathering and interpreting data for leadership and compliance reporting
- Ensure adherence to financial policies, controls, and regulatory requirements, identifying areas for process improvement
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and ensuring proper account maintenance
- Oversee fixed asset management, maintaining accurate records, assigning depreciation methods, and determining useful asset life in compliance with federal tax guidelines
- Accurately record and process semimonthly payroll journal entries, ensuring proper allocation across departments and cost centers
- Assist in processing accounts payable, ensuring accurate vendor reconciliations, expense tracking, and compliance with company policies
- Conduct credit card reconciliations, verifying transactions, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring timely resolution
- Support audit and tax preparation efforts by gathering documentation, preparing reconciliations, and responding to auditor requests
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA eligibility or progress toward certification is a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax principles, and financial reporting standards
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems
- 2-5 years of accounting experience, including accounting internships
- Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
