Engineer contributing to multidisciplinary mobility projects across various regions in Canada. Responsible for traffic studies, signal coordination, and construction oversight for community needs.
Responsibilities
The engineer contributes to the delivery of multidisciplinary projects of various sizes located in different regions of the province.
You will be responsible for conducting traffic studies and signal coordination, collaborating on the preparation of tender documents, and supervising works related to your area of expertise.
Develop traffic simulation models, analyze traffic patterns and optimize the operation of traffic signals;
Perform signal coordination studies;
Ensure signal programming and select signal heads in collaboration with electrical and lighting experts;
Select and design signal head types compliant with City of Montreal and MTMD practices;
Determine and integrate vehicle and pedestrian detection systems;
Coordinate with road engineering, municipal, structural (bridges) and landscape architect leads as well as other trades;
Produce complete tender documents incorporating related disciplines;
Conduct site visits and field surveys;
Ensure the quality of on-site work by performing construction site visits and participating in site meetings;
Prepare site visit reports and meeting minutes;
Analyze change order costs, prepare change orders and field directives, and make recommendations to the client;
Participate in provisional and final acceptance of works.
Requirements
You are an engineer or technician specialized in traffic and traffic signal systems
You have between 2 and 4 years of experience
You have expertise in traffic studies, signal coordination, programming sheets and signal plans and specifications;
You have experience in one of the following areas: roadway lighting, traffic signals, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)/telecommunications
You are proficient with Synchro/SimTraffic. Knowledge of Vistro is an asset;
You have a working knowledge of MicroStation and the City of Montreal ASFC tools;
You have a strong interest in programming, optimization and operation of traffic signals;
You are autonomous in the design and analysis of PE and SL plans;
You have a good understanding of and are able to read BC and TC plans;
You possess knowledge of signal programming parameters and the operational characteristics of traffic signals (COFC);
Knowledge of City of Montreal DTNI (families 5 and 6);
You are familiar with MTMD standards and procedures, including Tome V and Chapter 8 (Light Signals);
You also have knowledge of CSEM structure sheets and their interpretation;
You have field/site experience, including signal commissioning, certificates of conformity, programming surveys, controller surveys, etc.;
You can communicate in French, both orally and in writing;
You must be autonomous, enjoy working in a team and communicate clearly and precisely, especially regarding terminology specific to your expertise.
