Responsibilities
- Act as a design reference and provide technical supervision and assistance to team members (modeling, analysis methods, tool development, etc.);
- Share knowledge and experience with team members;
- Participate in workshops of an internal technical committee;
- Perform calculations, structural analysis and the design/sizing of bridge structures and civil engineering works in accordance with applicable standards, codes and regulations;
- Prepare and review drawings and specifications for bridge and structure design and rehabilitation projects;
- Lead a team of engineers and technicians in delivering a project;
- Provide support to the designer during construction phases;
- Conduct basic and/or complex engineering studies for construction and rehabilitation of steel and concrete structures;
- Resolve complex technical design issues;
- Support specialized resources in the preparation of service proposals;
- Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with team members, clients, contractor-partners and key suppliers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a specialization in structures or bridges and civil works;
- Master’s degree in civil engineering is a significant asset;
- Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in bridges and structures;
- Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (Québec Order of Engineers) as a professional engineer;
- Familiarity with modeling/design software such as Advance Design America, SAFI, SAP, CSI Bridges, Midas, LPILE, Shape Builder, MathCad, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.;
- Excellent technical knowledge in the design of bridges and civil engineering structures;
- Proficiency with codes and technologies related to bridge design as well as the requirements of the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec (MTMD) and Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (PJCCI);
- Experience designing steel, reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structures.
