About the role
- Big Data Engineer developing and optimizing data systems at ESET. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to handle and transform vast datasets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Big Data systems.
- Manage terabytes of data on distributed storage like Impala, Scylla, and Hive.
- Work with messaging systems like Apache Kafka.
- Query data using SQL or in-house alternatives.
- Process data in parallel using tools such as Apache Spark.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable data workflows and pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient handling and transformation of massive datasets.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and Java programming (experience with C/C++ is also a plus).
- Understanding of the Linux operating system.
- Hands-on experience with distributed storage systems such as HDFS, Hive, or Impala.
- Expertise with Apache Kafka and its role in messaging and streaming systems.
- Solid understanding of NoSQL database such as ScyllaDB.
- Knowledge of MapReduce concepts and frameworks.
- Familiarity with Jenkins for CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
