About the role

  • Offshore Cable Engineer overseeing submarine cable projects and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Leading technical aspects for windfarm cable systems with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Play a lead role in the Submarine Cable related activities for major projects at various stages of the project development cycle.
  • Provision of technical and commercial input into all aspects of the submarine cable manufacturing and installation contracts, including preparation of Employer’s Requirements, technical documentation and specifications and tender evaluation.
  • Design reviews of contractor cable system designs and installation methodologies with respect to the Employer's Requirements.
  • Oversee concept refinement and FEED phases of the project.
  • Interface management, cable system engineering, route engineering and technical support during cable installation, jointing, testing and commissioning.
  • Review offshore survey data and provide inputs to the Project Team's overall scrutiny of the contractor's cable burial assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and ensure that all cable related risks are continually assessed, reported and managed in line with the project governance systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience
  • Experience in the development of specifications and employers’ requirements for major submarine cable projects procurement, installation and testing
  • Experience in subsea surveys and engineering, submarine cable laying and burial campaigns, cable embedment, submersible vehicle operations, vessel positioning and commercial diving procedures.
  • Experience in technical and commercial evaluation of submarine cable packages.
  • Proficient in H&S standards for submarine cable projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability and good communication skills
  • Strong project and programme management capability
  • 3rd level qualification in engineering or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Project Management Qualification (Desirable)
  • Technical design certification processes (Desirable)
