Offshore Cable Engineer overseeing submarine cable projects and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Leading technical aspects for windfarm cable systems with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Play a lead role in the Submarine Cable related activities for major projects at various stages of the project development cycle.
Provision of technical and commercial input into all aspects of the submarine cable manufacturing and installation contracts, including preparation of Employer’s Requirements, technical documentation and specifications and tender evaluation.
Design reviews of contractor cable system designs and installation methodologies with respect to the Employer's Requirements.
Oversee concept refinement and FEED phases of the project.
Interface management, cable system engineering, route engineering and technical support during cable installation, jointing, testing and commissioning.
Review offshore survey data and provide inputs to the Project Team's overall scrutiny of the contractor's cable burial assessments.
Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and ensure that all cable related risks are continually assessed, reported and managed in line with the project governance systems.
Requirements
Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience
Experience in the development of specifications and employers’ requirements for major submarine cable projects procurement, installation and testing
Experience in subsea surveys and engineering, submarine cable laying and burial campaigns, cable embedment, submersible vehicle operations, vessel positioning and commercial diving procedures.
Experience in technical and commercial evaluation of submarine cable packages.
Proficient in H&S standards for submarine cable projects.
Strong stakeholder management capability and good communication skills
Strong project and programme management capability
3rd level qualification in engineering or equivalent work experience is required.
