  • The Design Engineer applies technical knowledge to create accurate, specification‑aligned designs while communicating challenges related to scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • They collaborate closely with gas utility operators and local agencies to complete and execute various public improvement design packages.
  • In this role, they support the preparation of simple designs or portions of larger projects—performing calculations, producing drawings, and leading design efforts on straightforward assignments while assisting on more complex work.
  • The Design Engineer must interact with clients and agencies, adheres to relevant industry codes and standards, and communicates clearly, professionally, and in a timely manner.
  • They take ownership of their work by self‑checking for accuracy, participating in peer and QC reviews, and ensuring the right information is relayed to clients and stakeholders through project leads.
  • Additional duties, including field work, are performed as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Civil engineering preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license without restrictions for occasional project visits (up to 50% locally in Sherwood/Hillsboro areas).
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, work independently, coordinate tasks effectively, and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • 0-4 years of engineering experience, preferably with engineering consulting, utilities, construction backgrounds.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite and SAP.
