About the role

  • Managing Director of Development leading fundraising strategies to combat homelessness at National Alliance to End Homelessness. Cultivating donor partnerships and supervising development operations.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the organization’s fundraising vision, focusing on high-value donor and institutional partnerships
  • Supervise and mentor the Senior Manager of Individual and Institutional Giving and manage relationships with fundraising consultants
  • Personally manage relationships with major donors and national institutional funders
  • Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for major gifts and grants
  • Develop tailored engagement strategies for prospective funders
  • Provide strategic direction for corporate fundraising at the national level

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • 8–10 years of progressive fundraising experience, including success securing six- and seven-figure gifts from major donors and foundations
  • At least 3–5 years of experience supervising development professionals and/or consultants
  • Deep commitment to ending homelessness.
  • Demonstrated success identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new foundation funders in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional proposal development, engaging senior programmatic and communications staff in funder strategy.
  • Experience supporting and deploying executive and senior leaders (e.g., CEO, COO, VPs) in donor and funder engagement.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with experience developing proposals, cases for support, and donor communications.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in donor CRM platforms (e.g., CiviCRM, EveryAction) and fundraising analytics.
