About the role

• Senior Backend Developer building reliable systems for Eletive’s People Success Platform in Malmö. Contributing to backend development with a focus on Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of backend services and functionality, driving them from idea to production.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product, and design to shape solutions early, contribute insights and feedback, and help the team make strong decisions together.
• Write high-quality backend code with a strong focus on clarity, performance, and maintainability.
• Engage in code reviews, pair programming, and continuous learning, while actively contributing to improving backend quality, performance, and maintainability.

Requirements

• Strong experience building backend systems using Node.js and enjoy working with APIs, data flows, and business logic.
• You are curious by nature and happy to explore new tools – including AI powered ones – that help you work smarter and write better backend code.
• You care about data modelling and how databases like PostgreSQL are used and queried, and you think about error handling, performance, and long-term maintainability.
• Backend is where your heart is, but you are comfortable collaborating across the stack.
• You understand how frontend applications consume APIs and feel confident debugging issues that span both frontend and backend code.
• You have strong experience working with modern JavaScript and TypeScript in backend environments.
• You care about code quality, readability, and structure, and you use typing, patterns, and tooling to build backend code that is easy to understand, maintain, and evolve over time.
• You have worked with AWS and are familiar with DevOps practices like containerization and automated deployments, and you understand what it takes to run backend services reliably in production.
