About the role

  • Staff Audio Systems Engineer responsible for audio systems architecture and delivery in a music tech startup. Collaborating with teams to ensure high-performance audio systems for on-demand vinyl records.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical architecture and delivery of large-scale digital and networked audio systems, from specification through commissioning and operational handover
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex audio reliability issues, partnering with Quality & Maintenance to diagnose, resolve, and prevent production-impacting failures
  • Translate Audio R&D standards into practical, real-world deployments, and help shape tooling requirements through feedback from commissioning and production operations
  • Lead cross-functional technical coordination with IT, electrical, and systems engineering teams to ensure robust integration across facilities, networks, and building infrastructure
  • Provide technical leadership within the audio engineering function, including mentoring, guidance to contractors, and technical mentorship for other team members

Requirements

  • **Required Skills and Qualifications:**
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering professional audio systems engineering work in broadcast and/or post-production environments
  • Proven experience owning end-to-end deployment of large-scale digital and networked audio systems in real facilities
  • Strong expertise in audio networking technologies such as Dante, Ravenna, and/or Milan AVB
  • Track record of designing for high availability, redundancy, and operational resilience in “zero downtime” production systems
  • Experience specifying and procuring audio systems and infrastructure, including vendor selection and technical evaluation
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, grounding, and power-related considerations for high-end audio systems
  • Excellent knowledge of cabling standards, structured wiring, patching, documentation, and commissioning best practices
  • Strong project planning capability, including risk management, dependencies, and structured commissioning approaches
  • Experience collaborating effectively with IT and systems engineering teams handling high-throughput media data infrastructure
  • High-confidence troubleshooting and fault-finding skills across physical audio, networked audio, and hybrid systems
  • Nice to Haves
  • Experience supporting production systems in operational environments with continuous throughput
  • Familiarity with high-throughput media data infrastructure and prioritisation of media traffic across networks
  • Experience working to externally defined technical standards and implementing R&D-led tooling or frameworks
  • Background in multi-room or multi-building production or broadcast facilities
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership within a team
