About the role

  • Postdoctoral Research Fellow studying genetic control of rumen microbiota composition and developing breeding for lower methane emissions in cattle at The University of Edinburgh.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute study the host genetic control on the rumen microbiota composition and develop microbiome-driven breeding towards lower methane emissions in cattle.
  • Join a new group in the areas of livestock hologenomics, including quantitative genomics and metagenomics.
  • Participate in a large international consortium to include the metagenome as a new tool in breeding programs.

Requirements

  • Expertise in animal breeding, quantitative genetics, quantitative genomics, and metagenomics.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, towards research group and individual objectives.
  • Track record of research output of high quality and technical skills.
