About the role

  • Demand Response Engineer supporting energy efficiency programs and management of demand response strategies at Duke Energy. Engaging with customers and stakeholders to optimize energy use and enhance grid stability.

Responsibilities

  • Support residential and non-residential demand response programs
  • Develop strategic recommendations around demand response programs and technologies
  • Support continuous improvement of demand response programs
  • Become fluent in peak load shedding strategies and implementation
  • Estimate customer energy savings
  • Keep meticulous records and verify planning assumptions to improve projections
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and maintain positive working relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 4 years minimum of engineering experience for Engineer III
  • 6 years minimum of engineering experience or 5 years with PE for Senior Engineer
  • Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of B.S. Engineering degree
  • Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam is desired
  • PE License, CEM, CDSM, and/or LC certification is desired
  • Experience in the utility industry is desired
  • Increasingly proficient in principles of project management is desired
  • Experience in building science and technology is desired
