System Administrator supporting Department of Energy operations in Aiken, SC. Responsibilities include server maintenance, security implementation, and support to federal staff.
Responsibilities
Provide support to the Department of Energy (DOE) Savannah River Operations Office.
Assist federal government staff and site contractors at the Savannah River Site (SRS) located in Aiken, SC.
Support the System Administrator II with installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems.
Mentor the Systems Administrator Apprentice.
Implement security concepts.
Operate, monitor, secure, and sustain the Storage Area Network (SAN), VMware cluster servers, and backup systems.
Provide Operation & Maintenance for IT service management and relevant systems.
Utilize a service management tool for trouble ticket tracking.
Assist in the development of standardized LAN operation procedures.
Create lessons learned entries for future process improvement.
Verify and validate products and services provided.
Perform business intelligence techniques.
Script to automate routine tasks.
Setup and administer SMTP e-mail.
Troubleshoot and resolve client-side e-mail issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Minimum of three years of experience working in a primarily Windows environment, preferably with experience administrating Active Directory and Windows Server systems.
Minimum of one year of experience utilizing VMware vSphere/ESXi or a similar virtualization hypervisor.
Must possess (or be able to obtain) a “Q” level security clearance.
