About the role
- Senior Data Engineer designing and optimizing the core data layer for Degreed's upskilling platform. Collaborating with internal teams and clients to ensure access to reliable and performant data.
Responsibilities
- Design and build a scalable, high-performance data layer
- Optimize and refactor existing data models in Snowflake
- Develop and maintain reliable, production-grade data pipelines
- Implement infrastructure and orchestration improvements
- Collaborate with analytics and product teams
- Conduct code reviews and mentor team members
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response processes
- Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term roadmap planning
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in data engineering
- Advanced proficiency in Snowflake and SQL
- Strong experience with dbt and dimensional data modeling
- Proven experience building and orchestrating data pipelines
- Experience working with infrastructure-as-code and containerized environments
- Demonstrated ability to design data architectures that scale
- Experience leading or contributing to complex data engineering projects
- Proven experience mentoring data engineers
- Experience operating in environments with production support responsibilities
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, product, engineering, and business stakeholders
