- Senior IT-System Engineer analyzing and resolving issues in IT systems. Collaborating with teams while maintaining and automating infrastructure in a leading IT service company in Germany.
Responsibilities
- Independent analysis and resolution of errors in various applications on Windows and Linux servers
- Evaluation and interpretation of event logs, log files, and system messages
- Conducting and analyzing network traces (e.g., with Wireshark) to identify performance or communication issues
- Close collaboration with business units, developers, and external partners to determine the root causes of complex incidents
- Planning and performing maintenance tasks such as patching, certificate replacement, or configuration adjustments
- Maintaining and documenting system environments and troubleshooting processes
- Active participation in the development and automation of infrastructure and monitoring solutions
- Supporting the rollout of new systems and technical migration projects
Requirements
- Completed vocational training or degree in IT or equivalent professional experience
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructures, particularly Windows and Linux servers (including services, networking, and protocols)
- Practical experience in application troubleshooting and working with logs and trace tools
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, SSL/TLS)
- Confident handling of certificates, patch management, and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with monitoring and ticketing systems (e.g., Zabbix, CheckMK, Jira, USU)
- Good communication skills and an analytical mindset
- Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
- Very good German language skills and good English skills
- For work within the German public sector, a security clearance according to SÜ1 or SÜ2 is required. Willingness to undergo this process is expected.
