IT System Engineer managing network and security for mid-sized clients based in Köln. Incident resolution, network project planning, and customer interaction while supporting a team of engineers.
Responsibilities
Incident, change and problem handling for heterogeneous customer networks (2nd and 3rd level, primarily remote)
Planning and implementation of network projects
Analysis of network faults
Communication with vendors and, if necessary, directly with customers to resolve network issues
Maintenance of network documentation and CMDBs
Presales support in the area of network and security technologies
Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation
Requirements
Completed vocational IT training (e.g., IT Specialist — System Integration (all genders) or IT Systems Electronics Technician (all genders)) or a degree in Computer Science
Several years of professional experience as a System Engineer (all genders) in network and security technologies
Knowledge and experience with core network services (DNS, DHCP, proxy servers, mail relays, load balancers, RADIUS)
Practical experience with products from Cisco, Fortinet and Check Point, and initial experience with Microsoft Azure networking products (e.g., Azure Virtual Network, Azure Load Balancer)
Knowledge of networking concepts and tools used in cloud environments
Experience with common tools and operating systems in network environments (Linux, Wireshark)
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Excellent German language skills (level C1/C2) and confident English skills
Willingness to travel when customer projects are implemented outside Cologne
