About the role
- Referent for labor law coordination and consulting at DAAD, handling legal questions and support across 20 international locations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the (labor) legal coordination and associated advice for the DAAD external network (foreign offices, German Science and Innovation Houses, Heinrich-Heine-House)
- Clarification of labor and social security law issues relating to locally employed staff at currently 20 locations
- Support in aligning template employment contracts and supplementary agreements
- Handling personnel-related issues such as recruitments, fixed-term contracts, dismissals, and matters relating to maternity protection and parental leave
- Review of contracts and compensation structures for new hires
- Communication with external law firms abroad
- Coordination of employment contracts and compensation arrangements with foreign missions (embassies/consulates-general)
- Clarification of national labor and social security law frameworks in coordination with local law firms and on-site payroll providers
- Advising locally employed managers on labor law questions
- Support for recruitment and selection procedures for locally employed staff at registered offices
- Monitoring legal developments abroad and deriving concrete recommendations for action for the respective sites.
Requirements
- Completed university degree in law (First State Examination, Master's, Magister); desirable specialization in international labor law or human resources management
- Experience in international organizations or in supporting foreign (company) branches or similar
- Willingness and ability to familiarize yourself with new areas of law
- Very good written and spoken English
- Confident use of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Analytical thinking, independent and structured way of working
- Good communication skills and strong intercultural competence
- Resilience, reliability, negotiation skills, confident appearance, organizational ability and a team-oriented mindset
- Experience in compliance issues and change management, foreign tenancy law, powers of attorney abroad; knowledge of an additional foreign language is desirable.
