Systems Administrator supporting DoD networks with SDN technologies and cybersecurity compliance at CyKor. Collaborating with federal and commercial clients in a hybrid role based in Washington, DC area.
Responsibilities
Administer and maintain SDN-enabled infrastructure across DoDIN enclaves
Support installation, configuration, and sustainment of network devices (virtual and physical)
Manage system baselines, patching, and configuration control in accordance with DoD standards
Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and fault resolution
Support deployment and operations of SDN technologies (e.g., Cisco SD-WAN, SDA, or similar platforms)
Maintain SDN controllers, orchestration tools, and policy frameworks
Assist with network segmentation, microsegmentation, and policy-based routing
Support automation efforts using tools such as Ansible, APIs, or scripting
Ensure compliance with RMF (Risk Management Framework), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIGs and DoD cybersecurity policies and directives
Conduct vulnerability remediation and security hardening
Support ATO sustainment activities and audit readiness
Support integration with DoDIN enterprise services and transport layers
Coordinate with Network Operations Centers (NOCs) and Security Operations Centers (SOCs)
Troubleshoot issues impacting operational availability across DoDIN
Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and configuration artifacts
Provide inputs to weekly/monthly status reports and incident reports
Support change management boards (CCB) and configuration control processes
Requirements
Bachelor Degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–7 years of experience in systems administration (Windows/Linux) and network administration in enterprise or DoD environments
Hands-on experience with SDN technologies (Cisco SD-WAN, VMware NSX, etc.), Virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, or Ansible)
Experience operating within DoDIN or similar federal networks
Familiarity with RMF processes, STIG implementation and Patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, SCCM)
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Ability to operate in mission-critical environments
Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Discipline in configuration management and documentation
Team-oriented with ability to support cross-functional engineering efforts
Active Secret clearance, TS/SCI preferred
