• Claims Attorney representing COUNTRY Financial on claims-related legal matters and providing counsel to claims personnel. Managing litigation strategy and controlling litigation costs based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Represents the organization on claims-related legal matters
• Provides legal advice and counsel to claims personnel
• Maintains control of files and litigation costs
• Develops, prepares, and implements claims litigation strategy
• Will manage both first party property litigation as well as liability litigation
• Assigns cases to outside counsel and evaluates their performance
• Provides legal advice and training to claims personnel to ensure consistent file handling
• Controls litigation costs and claim severity
• Responds to subpoenas, court orders and other legal requests in compliance with applicable laws and company policies
• May attend pertinent trials but is not attorney of record
• May provide oversight and supervision to outside counsel on claims-related litigation

Requirements

• Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training
• Must have passed the Bar exam
• Candidates who live within 50 miles of Bloomington, Illinois will follow a hybrid schedule
• Candidates more who live more than 50 miles from Bloomington will work remotely.
