About the role
- Senior Cyber Security Engineer operating and improving security posture at ControlExpert. Collaborating with infrastructure, cloud, product, and DevOps teams in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and continuously improve ControlExpert’s on-premises and hybrid cloud security posture
- Work hands-on in incident response, vulnerability management, endpoint security, and operational security engineering, collaborating closely with infrastructure, cloud, product, and DevOps teams
- Security incident triage, investigation, and response, including coordination with an external 24/7 SOC
- Conduct forensic investigations and root cause analysis
- Roll out endpoint security and onboard new environments and clients
- Vulnerability management: CVE assessment and prioritization, assigning remediation actions to responsible teams, and tracking mitigation and closure
- Review external security findings (e.g., BitSight reports, penetration tests)
- Provide operational security consulting for internal product and platform teams
- Continuously improve operational security processes and tooling
- Support onboarding and mentor junior engineers
- Contribute to selected group initiatives (e.g., IAM, shared-service preparation)
Requirements
- Several years of professional experience in IT security / cyber security operations
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- • Incident response and investigations
- • Vulnerability management and remediation processes
- • Endpoint protection and XDR solutions
- • Network and system security (on-premises and cloud)
- Technical skills:
- • Experience working with SIEM/security monitoring tools (e.g., Elastic)
- • Solid understanding of enterprise IT environments and automation
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Fluent in English; German desirable
- Nice-to-have:
- • Certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, GCIA)
- • Experience with cloud security (AWS / Azure)
- • Experience in regulated environments (ISO, NIS2, SOC)
