About the role
- Lab Technician conducting analytical testing to ensure high product quality for CHS, Inc. based in Rochelle, IL. Responsibilities include routine testing and maintaining safety standards in food production.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analytical testing to monitor control of processes and ensure final products meet specifications
- Perform routine testing on inbound, in-process, and finished products in a timely manner
- Conduct testing and routine maintenance on water treatment systems
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
- Utilize lab equipment (HPLC, IC, GC, Cell Counter, IR, NIR, Titrators)
- Perform additional testing as needed
- Participate in training opportunities to further product safety and quality knowledge
- Collaborate with plant leadership team to identify and make final decisions on product quality challenges
- Adhere to feed safety and good manufacturing policies at all times
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Maintain clean and safe work area at all times
- Ability to work overtime or holidays if needed
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in Quality Management and/or Quality Assurance
- High School diploma or GED
- Prior experience in a Quality Assurance role in food production or agriculture
- Prior experience in large-scale chemical or processing environments.
- Experience with mobile equipment (forklift, electric pallet jack, aerial lift, etc.)
- Experience with safety programs including Lock Out/Tag Out, confined space, line break, and chemical hazard communication/chemical hygiene.
