About the role

  • Accounting Coordinator managing day-to-day accounting tasks at COHO Management Services Society. Supporting financial reporting, compliance, and client communication for housing co-operatives.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable and ensuring all transactions are properly recorded
  • Compile, analyze and report financial data for monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Assist with budget forecasting and audit preparation
  • Act as a liaison between the accounting department and external parties, including clients, suppliers and lenders
  • Process invoices, manage payroll and reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy
  • Verify invoices and other accounting documents for accuracy
  • Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records
  • Participate in audits and work closely with internal and external auditors
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all relevant legal and regulatory requirements
  • Attending client meetings, including those outside of core working hours
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Director, Finance & Accounting or the Staff Supervisor

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in accounting or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, bookkeeping or budgeting experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites; experience with Sage 300 or property management software is a strong asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems and manage multiple priorities
  • Customer service orientation and ability to build positive relationships
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to attend evening meetings and occasional travel
