Senior Category Manager leading sourcing strategies for $180M Copper and Aluminum categories at Carrier. Collaborating cross-functionally to drive supply chain excellence and cost-saving initiatives.
Responsibilities
Manages global category spend for approximately $180M.
Responsible for building and executing category strategy for Copper and Aluminum material which optimizes affordability, availability, agility, and innovation.
Develop and maintain expert knowledge of respective global supply markets, competitors, and product innovations.
Establishes a cross-functional network and fosters collaboration with suppliers, wider supply chain organization, engineering, quality, and product management.
Owns the vendor performance data and reports metrics to leadership.
Manages external relationships with suppliers and assumes responsibility for all internal activities and decisions associated with the assigned categories and suppliers, including contract negotiations, new products development, approved vendor lists, re-sourcing, dual qualification, pricing changes, quality, and capacity.
Develop the commodity management team to drive global performance in collaboration with regional commodity teams and the Center of Excellence team.
Requirements
Bachelor degree
7+ year’s experience with strategic sourcing for a global industrial manufacturer
30% travel including some international trips
MBA or professional certifications (CPM, CPSM, CIRM, CPIM) preferred
Excellent negotiation skills & strategic mindset
Experience with strategic sourcing and lean tools
Digital dexterity and strong analytical ability to leverage data
Strong knowledge of supply chain strategy (development and execution) and category specific experience
Driven problem solver with appetite to independently address complex challenges in a fast-moving environment
Proven track record of successful leadership, negotiation, and executive communication
Strong business acumen and experience collaborating across various levels within a diverse, global organization
