About the role

Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership in the Office of General Counsel with responsibility for the Legislation and Policy Team.
- Advising on high priority legal policy and legislative matters.
- Lead and provide expert technical advice on complex legislative reforms from a whole of government perspective.
- Deliver integrated, strategic, and high quality legal and policy advice to key stakeholders.
- Advise on a broad range of matters including constitutional, electoral, criminal justice, human rights, integrity, accountability and transparency systems, regulatory reform, parliamentary processes and major government projects and policies.
- Support the General Counsel in overseeing the delivery of high-quality legal services in the Legislation and Policy Team.
Requirements
- Experience in providing technically excellent legal and policy advice in complex areas, including the development of complex legislation.
- Excellent relationship management skills.
- Corresponding work rights for the advertised employment period.
