About the role

  • Engineering Manager leading a high-performing team for APEXX's payment orchestration products. Driving product development and innovation in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and grow a team of software engineers delivering both customer-facing and platform capabilities.
  • Guide architecture and design across our self-serve customer portal, real-time transaction dashboards, and intelligent routing engine.
  • Shape product thinking alongside Product and Design to ensure seamless, intuitive user experiences.
  • Oversee development of new and existing products.
  • Ensure our products are secure, performant, and scalable — from design through to production support.
  • Champion engineering quality through architecture reviews, hands-on technical guidance, and best practices.
  • Foster a high-trust, inclusive, and continuously improving team environment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders in Product, Compliance, and Business to deliver impactful outcomes.
  • Lead incident response, retrospectives, and process improvements with a focus on learning and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • A track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams to deliver complex real-time systems and third-party integrations.
  • Experience guiding technical decisions, coaching engineers, and driving delivery in a fast-paced product environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with backend technologies such as Java (Spring Boot), Python, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native architecture.
  • Exposure to frontend technologies such as React.js, Node.js, and Next.js is a plus — particularly in the context of building and scaling customer-facing products.
  • Comfortable with modern DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Solid understanding of third-party APIs and secure data transmission (REST, SOAP, OAuth, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable working cross-functionally and across time zones.
  • Passionate about building a strong engineering culture through mentorship, ownership, and continuous improvement.
