About the role
- Senior GCP Data Engineer leading the design and optimization of scalable data platforms on Google Cloud. Collaborating with cross-functional teams for analytics and business-critical applications.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines using modern data engineering frameworks.
- Work extensively with GCP services such as BigQuery, GCS, Composer, IAM, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
- Implement robust ETL/ELT solutions for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Optimize pipeline performance, troubleshoot distributed systems, and ensure platform reliability.
- Establish and enforce best practices for code quality, security, data governance, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate progress, and manage risks or changes effectively.
- Mentor junior engineers, remove blockers, and drive engineering excellence through technical leadership.
- Contribute to Infra-as-Code (Terraform), CI/CD, and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
- 6–10 years of hands-on experience in data engineering.
- UG/PG in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong analytical thinking, quick understanding of requirements, and proactive decision-making.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced SQL proficiency and experience with relational, NoSQL, and big data ecosystems.
- Expertise in Python and distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Beam.
- Demonstrated experience building and optimizing complex data pipelines in cloud environments (GCP preferred).
- Strong understanding of data quality, security principles, and lifecycle management.
- Hands-on experience with Git, Terraform, and Linux/Bash.
- Proven leadership qualities with the ability to guide teams without micromanagement.
- Experience working in dynamic, fast-paced industries such as Telecom (preferred).
