About the role

  • Staff Accountant responsible for managing accounting functions for the Durham Bulls and related entities. Involves ticket, food, beverage accounting, and assisting with month-end closures.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile & record weekly bank deposits with Ticketmaster settlements.
  • Prepare ticket revenue entries for baseball games and special events.
  • Reconcile monthly deferred revenue accounts.
  • Prepare weekly ticket reports for CPL teams.
  • Prepare revenue entries and necessary accruals for food & beverage operations.
  • Prepare commission statements after each homestand for our contractors.
  • Prepare cost of sale estimates monthly.
  • Assist with physical inventory and post adjustments to GL.
  • Investigate all charge backs and work with Assistant Business Manager for resolution.
  • Assist with accounts payable during the baseball season and staff outages.
  • Reconcile vendor statements for any discrepancies.
  • Assist with accounts receivable by generating invoices, processing payments, and following upon overdue accounts.
  • Perform and/or assist with bank account reconciliations.
  • Actively assist with other month-end closing duties such as booking recurring journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.
  • Perform and/or assist with monthly Baseball accounting as assigned.
  • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset, identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline or enhance accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisors and peers on special projects as needed.
  • Contribute to other ad-hoc financial tasks and projects as needed to support the team and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to learn quickly, ask questions and communicate effectively.
  • 1-3 years accounting experience or completed accounting internship.
