Responsibilities
Review reconsideration requests related to denied or closed claims, determine appropriate actions, and respond to those requests
Provide consultation services for disability claims that have been escalated to a higher level; offer guidance and feedback to staff on claim assessment, disability file management, interpretation of benefits policy, and privacy protection
Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor
Conduct investigations into non-contractual payment requests and approve or deny them; assess the financial implications for the company
Review enrollment requests for dependents who have exceeded age limits and make recommendations to the Medical and Dental team
Serve English-speaking clients
Requirements
Bilingualism (proficiency in French and English) required
4 or more years of experience managing disability claims
Claims management skills obtained through post-secondary education or prior professional experience
Strong understanding of Great-West policies and practices related to disability claims management
Ability to work independently and collaborate with individuals at various organizational levels
Customer-service oriented approach
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Ability to negotiate and recommend effective claims-management solutions
